CCS VETS

Ikhala Veterinary Clinic is registered with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC) as a Compulsory Community Service (CCS) facility. As such, new veterinary graduates may apply to be placed at our facility under certain terms and conditions according to the Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF).

Our aim as a CCS registered facility is to provide a platform and support structure for new graduates to perform essential community service to the impoverished communities of Makhanda and its surrounding areas. With access to modern equipment, technical advice and mentorship from senior Ikhala vets with many years of experience working in the Eastern Cape. We believe that this experience will empower the CCS vet to provide much needed primary animal health care to communities that have been neglected for too long. Our intention is to carry this out in a manner that sustainable and education-focused.
